Dark Interiors

Modern Gothic interiors have a particular sense of presence. A dark wall gives furniture a sharper silhouette. A pointed arch draws attention upward. A painting holds a distant light, suggesting another space beyond the room.

Dark interiors create a powerful backdrop for artwork, but choosing the right landscape painting requires balance. A piece that is too dark can disappear into the wall, while one that is too bright may feel disconnected from the atmosphere of the room.

Black walls create a dramatic backdrop, but choosing the right colors to pair with them can completely change how a room feels.

Do dark walls make a room look bigger or smaller? They can do either—and the difference comes down to how you style the space.

Dark interiors have become one of the biggest trends in modern home design. Whether your style leans minimalist, contemporary, or modern Gothic, darker palettes can make a room feel sophisticated, cozy, and full of character.
