I checked the painting as soon as I opened the parcel because I had never ordered something like this for delivery. There were no scratches or dents, and everything seemed secure. The amount of packaging surprised me, though I was grateful for it once I saw the condition of the work. It looks wonderful now that it is up.
The finish is clean at the corners, and indirect window light brings out the wilted flowers without glare.
I wasn't sure what the texture would be like. It's noticeable nearby, but it doesn't distract when I'm just sitting across the room.
Not quite as bright as on my screen, but beautiful.
The wilted flowers are easy to read from the doorway.
I almost skipped this because it is hard to judge darker artwork online. After seeing it at home, I was relieved that the wilted flowers stayed clear, the canvas felt substantial, and the haunting look was not overly theatrical.
The surface has visible brush marks and small variations around the wilted flowers. It reads as hand-painted even from a few feet away.
Packed securely, with no damage around the wilted flowers.
At first I thought the painting might be too dark because of the website photos. In the room it reads more clearly, especially around the wilted flowers, and the muted color changes make it feel much less printed.
“The most alluring things may also conceal danger.”
Deep purple berries hang among dense green leaves, while vivid blossoms contrast sharply with the dark fruit. Rich, almost unnatural colors and rough brushwork leave the plant suspended between temptation and danger.
Inspired by belladonna and nature’s contradiction of beauty and toxicity. The work conceals danger beneath abundant color, reflecting on the things that draw us closer yet can never truly be possessed.
