We put it above the sectional. It adds a dark focal point without making the room feel themed.
A good little gothic accent beside the workroom's plain bookcase.
The texture is subtle, which suits me. I can tell it's painted when I'm close, without the surface looking rough from the other end of the room.
The brush ridges are visible without looking overdone.
I almost skipped this because it is hard to judge darker artwork online. After seeing it at home, I was relieved that the empty room stayed clear, the canvas felt substantial, and the gothic look was not overly theatrical.
I was most worried about shipping because the piece is fairly large. The outer package showed normal handling wear, but the inner protection kept the ash charcoal frame and painted surface completely safe.
In person, the empty room looks dramatic and richer than online.
