It changes noticeably between morning and evening light. The obsidian black wood frame keeps the darker palette looking neat.
The three pieces don't look like perfectly identical factory-made objects, which I appreciate. You can see the paint if you stand nearby, and each has its own little differences. They still work together on the wall. I wanted something that felt made by a person, and those small differences are part of the appeal rather than a problem for me.
It took a little patience to unpack the set, but everything was protected. We laid the pieces out before putting them up, which helped with deciding on the gaps. None had been damaged in the journey. I am very happy with how they look together, and glad we took our time rather than rushing to hang the first one immediately.
I almost skipped this because it is hard to judge darker artwork online. After seeing it at home, I was relieved that the layered forms stayed clear, the canvas felt substantial, and the muted look was not overly theatrical.
It finally filled the blank wall above the record console.
The surface has visible brush marks and small variations around the layered forms. It reads as hand-painted even from a few feet away.
Packed securely, with no damage around the layered forms.
At first I thought the painting might be too dark because of the website photos. In the room it reads more clearly, especially around the layered forms, and the muted color changes make it feel much less printed.
“When sound recedes, form begins to speak.”
Across the three works, grey-white, black, rust brown, and warm ivory create a unified visual language. Irregular forms are enclosed, assembled, and layered within geometric spaces, while restrained colors and rough textures give the triptych a quiet yet substantial presence.
Inspired by the way silence can be transformed into perceptible form. Moving through absence, order, and weight, the three works condense what cannot easily be spoken into abstract structures—when narrative and sound gradually fall away, form itself is what remains.
