Looks smaller than the room photo, but fits our wall well.

I measured the furniture first, and this size leaves enough wall around it. The proportions feel accurate.
The painting was well protected and arrived without damage. I waited until the weekend to hang it, and it looks lovely in our room.
I didn't want another flat picture for this room, so the surface mattered to me. There are little raised bits you can see when the light hits it, but it doesn't look lumpy or overdone. It just feels more substantial than the prints we already own. I'm glad I chose something I can enjoy up close as well.
The empty hearse is easy to read from the doorway.
I almost skipped this because it is hard to judge darker artwork online. After seeing it at home, I was relieved that the empty hearse stayed clear, the canvas felt substantial, and the gothic look was not overly theatrical.
In flat room light the painting looks fairly restrained, but side light reveals a lot of brush movement. The thicker marks around the empty hearse give the haunting image depth without looking like exaggerated plaster.
It was packed more carefully than I expected, especially around the edges. The gothic painting arrived ready to handle without loose paint.
In person, the empty hearse looks dramatic and richer than online.
“It travels toward the end, yet carries no one with it.”
Gothic architecture and a vintage hearse overlap in monochrome, while spires, the vehicle, and fractured textures are broken apart by dripping paint. Familiar forms become uncertain, like fragments of an old scene slowly disappearing from memory.
Inspired by the traditional funeral hearse and the “final journey” it represents. With no one inside, the work shifts its focus from death itself to absence—what remains is not the departed, but a farewell left unfinished.
