The difference is mostly in the finish, not the overall color.

We put it above the sectional. It adds a understated focal point without making the room feel themed.
The delivery came before we had finished moving the furniture, so we opened it to check everything, then covered it again. There was no damage, and keeping the packaging made it easy to protect until the wall was ready. It is up now and looks great. Glad we didn't rush to put it somewhere just because it had arrived.
This is now on the wall facing the stair landing. We tried it beside a mirror first, but the arrangement felt crowded. Moving the mirror left the painting a clear patch of wall and made the whole turn calmer. It is a normal, much-used hallway rather than a carefully styled room, and the painting works there.
Side light shows real texture around the doorway.
My main worry was receiving something that looked mass-produced. The small color shifts, uneven brush direction, and clean dark walnut wood frame helped. It still matches the listing, but the real surface feels much more convincing.
I was most worried about shipping because the piece is fairly large. The outer package showed normal handling wear, but the inner protection kept the frameless finish and painted surface completely safe.
In person, the doorway looks muted and richer than online.
The painting changes a lot between morning and evening light. The obsidian black frame keeps the charcoal and gray palette looking grounded.
Small variations along the arches and borders make the piece feel genuinely hand-painted.
I worried the darker details would disappear outside the website photos. In person, the black, red, and muted gold remain distinct, creating a Gothic mood without looking theatrical.
The 54-inch painting and smoked oak frame arrived safely.
The hidden crows and red sections appear clearer in person.
“Every passage leaves another unopened.”
Layers of red, black, and dark gold unfold one after another; arches and crows are hidden in the depths of the composition, while large swaths of dark space remain empty. Repeating borders, play of light and shadow, and geometric relationships create multiple pathways, generating a subtle tension between openness and enclosure within the composition.
Inspired by architectural entrances that coexist yet lead in different directions, this work treats the unexplored spaces as a metaphor for choice: every step forward is accompanied by another possibility left behind.
