A monumental Gothic vessel moves through a violent gray sea, its towering spires transforming the ship into a floating cathedral. In Gothic culture, the open ocean often symbolizes isolation, uncertainty, and forces beyond human control, while the voyage marks a passage away from the familiar. Drifting North captures this solemn movement into the unknown: even as the destination disappears into the storm, the journey continues.

Inspired by the vertical forms of medieval Gothic cathedrals, old seafaring vessels, and the storms of northern waters, I merged architecture with the body of a ship to create a castle seemingly torn from the land. Heavy, fractured brushwork gives the sea and sky a force greater than the vessel itself, emphasizing both its monumentality and vulnerability as it continues toward the unknown.
