I hadn't ordered from this site before, so I was a little nervous. I looked at the dimensions and close-up photos several times before deciding. The painting looks lovely in our room, and I am glad I went ahead with it. Choosing a size that would fit a few different walls made the decision feel easier for me.
The paint is fairly subtle head-on, but side light picks up raised marks around the northward strokes.
The outer box had a few marks, but the painting was protected with corner guards and layers of wrapping. The Dark Walnut frame arrived without scratches.
It has the handmade feel I was hoping for, not perfect sameness.
We have a few gothic objects, but I didn't want to collect everything in one corner like a set. The painting hangs on a relatively plain wall beside our reading area. Giving it some space worked better than adding more dark accessories around it. It feels like something we live with instead of something the room has to perform around.
The northward strokes read more clearly off-screen.
I first planned to use this in the bedroom, but it felt more balanced above a narrow console. From the doorway, the northward strokes are clear and the moody palette gives the wall character without looking staged.
The raised paint gives the thick blue and white paint much more depth.
The thick blue and white paint looks richer in person than it did online.
The storm is darker in person and the gothic ship stands out more.
The waves have real raised paint, not just printed shadows. You can see the ridges from across the room, especially when light hits from the side.
This took longer than the other wall art I've ordered online, but the packaging was serious. The canvas had corner guards, a protective sleeve, and thick foam around the framed edge. One side of the outer box was dented and wet from rain; nothing reached the painting. I would have liked faster tracking updates, but the gothic ship arrived without a single mark.
