The paint is fairly subtle head-on, but side light picks up raised marks around the lighthouse.
It became the focal point over our reading chair right away.
We chose the wall just inside our front door.
It arrived safely and looked lovely once all the wrapping was off. The package was awkward in our small hallway, but nothing inside was damaged.
It finally filled the blank wall behind the desk.
The lighthouse reads more clearly off-screen.
Much richer in person, especially the lighthouse details and textured sky.
Shipping took longer than regular wall decor, which made sense for a hand-painted piece. Tracking updated, and the artwork arrived safely.
This is in my office where the side window catches the heavy waves. The dark, stormy scene has plenty of drama without distracting me.
Dented outer box, excellent inner wrapping, and no damage at all.
The lighthouse is smaller and the waves look heavier in person.
“Some lights are meant to endure the storm.”
A black lighthouse stands alone amid violent waves and dense mist, its faint lantern the only steady light within the storm. In Gothic culture, isolated towers and distant beacons evoke solitude, vigilance, and faith against darkness. The Lighthouse becomes a symbol of what refuses to disappear when the world loses its direction. Strength does not silence the storm; it keeps the light burning within it.
Inspired by stormbound coastal lighthouses and the recurring image of the solitary tower in Gothic literature, this work places stillness against chaos. I wanted the sea to feel restless while the tower remained uncompromisingly vertical. Its lantern does not illuminate the entire ocean; it simply continues to burn. That restrained, solitary light became the starting point of the painting.
