Memento In Ash arrived clean and completely undamaged.
A perfect charcoal drawing. I only wish I had ordered the next size up because it deserves a bigger wall.
It was a considered purchase for me. Really happy once it arrived.
The smaller scale makes the memento mori subject feel less confrontational.
The paint is fairly subtle head-on, but side light picks up raised marks around the ash-gray layers.
The ash-gray layers read more clearly off-screen.
I expected the artwork to look almost exactly like the main listing image, but the real piece has more variation. The ash-gray layers and worn texture show more natural variation, and the darker tones are not flat. That handmade difference makes it look much better on the wall than it did on screen.
The 40" x 30" piece was packed with protected corners and a covered surface. The outer box had marks, but the ash-gray abstract forms arrived undamaged.
I worried the Gothic style might look cheap online, but the real finish feels solid.
The figures are more abstract in person than they looked on my monitor, which makes the memento mori theme feel less literal. From across the room it reads like charcoal and ash; close up you start noticing the skeletal traces. Dark, but not cheesy.
I love the depth of this artwork.
We hung this over the bed in our guest room. It's simple, modern, and adds just enough character without making the room feel dark. Very pleased with the quality.
Good service, prompt delivery, great product. I prefer the bigger sizes as the artwork really comes into its own.
"What fades from sight may remain in memory."
Ghostly human forms and skeletal traces emerge through charcoal-like textures, where life and death intertwine. Inspired by Gothic Memento Mori, the artwork reflects on mortality, reminding us to value the present and find resilience, meaning, and quiet strength in life's impermanence.
Inspired by the Gothic concept of Memento Mori and expressive charcoal figure studies, the skeletal forms represent reflection rather than fear. As the body dissolves into flowing lines, memory and spirit remain. Within the world of NightRelic, permanence is found not in endless life, but in the traces a soul leaves behind.
