The selected size keeps the skeletal image contained rather than overwhelming. I like it with a calm wall around it and no extra objects immediately underneath.

Looks right above the sectional and does not crowd it.
The empty space and dark shape looks richer in person than it did online.
A restrained gothic accent in a small, much-used reading room.
The price made me hesitate. Glad I finally decided to order.
Absent Presence was packed securely, and both the painted surface and frame arrived without scuffs or dents.
Absent Presence looks darker and clearer in person.
The brush marks are easy to see in the empty space and dark shape, especially from the side. Small variations make it feel genuinely hand painted rather than printed.
The painting is heavier than expected, but the frameless finish feels solid.
The larger size gives the broken skeleton the impact it needs.
This lasted one night in the bedroom before my partner asked me to move it. The fractured skeleton is more unsettling in person, especially against the red field. It now hangs in my studio, where the odd gothic edge feels completely right. Visitors always stop and ask about it. Definitely not a neutral decorating piece, but that is why I bought it.
The pale section has more rough texture than the photos reveal.
"Absence leaves a shape."
Against a field of burning red, a fractured skeleton rests upon pale ground, like a relic abandoned by time. Drawing from Gothic ruins and Memento Mori, the work turns death toward absence: when something disappears, does the space it occupied still remember it? Perhaps places remember what we no longer can.
Absent Presence begins with the idea that absence can leave a physical weight behind. The skeletal form has lost the life and identity it once held, yet it continues to occupy the center of the space. Its absence becomes a presence of its own. The work reflects on this contradiction: perhaps what we lose never disappears completely, but remains through traces, empty spaces, and memory.
