The package was larger than I expected because of the protection around it. Everything inside was fine, and the painting looks beautiful now it's hung.

It changes noticeably between morning and evening light. The dark walnut frame keeps the darker palette looking neat.
The colors show up better here than on my laptop.
The smaller format makes the mourning locket feel almost private.
We hung it behind the desk; the scale feels balanced.
I almost skipped this because it is hard to judge darker artwork online. After seeing it at home, I was relieved that the hair-like lines stayed clear, the canvas felt substantial, and the haunting look was not overly theatrical.
Online it looked flatter, but in person there is more depth around the hair-like lines and the overall palette feels more dramatic.
The best part is the surface. Some areas around the hair-like lines are built up, while other sections stay thin and soft. That uneven brushwork makes the painting feel genuinely handmade instead of like a textured print.
The eerie painting arrived clean, flat, and protected.
“Some memories are bound tightly simply because we refuse to forget.”
Black, grey, and silver-white strands of hair twist and overlap around an oval mourning locket. Inside, gathered hair and pearls form an almost floral arrangement, preserving a sense of delicacy and fragility within the restrained monochrome palette.
Inspired by braided and carefully preserved mourning jewelry. Here, binding is both an act of preservation and a symbol of the connection between the present and the past—the more we try to hold on, the more deeply memory becomes entwined.
