The real surface doesn't glow the way a backlit display does.

It is less glossy than my screen showed, which I actually prefer.
There is some texture, but it isn't heavily bumpy. I was happy about that because this hangs where I often sit quite close to it.
My main concern with the deep green was whether the figure would still register in ordinary indoor light. We chose a wall that gets reflected daylight and avoided putting furniture directly in front of it. In the evening, a low lamp nearby is sufficient. I wouldn't have wanted a bright spotlight making the underwater space look harsh.
The descending shapes read more clearly off-screen.
I checked the canvas closely after unpacking because hand-painted texture was important to me. The marks vary in height and direction, especially around the descending shapes, and nothing looks stamped or mechanically repeated.
The outer package had a small scrape, while the painting and corners inside were completely unaffected.
The paint texture is visible from the side and feels genuinely hand done.
I was concerned about shipping a piece this size. The packaging was heavier than expected, but the deep blue artwork and Ash Charcoal frame arrived without damage.
The green is colder and the figure is less visible than online. In daylight it looks eerie and detailed; at night it becomes almost completely shadowy.
Subtle surface texture, but enough to keep the dark water from looking flat.
I first put this above the bed, but the smaller size made the pale figure feel lost in all that dark green. It works much better on a narrower wall where you can stand closer. A small picture light also helps a lot after sunset. The black frame suits the creepy underwater scene, though I would order one size larger if buying again.
“The deepest call comes from within.”
In a deep green sea, a pale figure glows within the darkness, its edges slowly dissolving as if drawn by an unseen force. The abyss and spectral form evoke Gothic ideas of the soul, the unknown, and fate. Deep Calling is not about falling into darkness, but surrendering to a call that has always existed within.
Inspired by the silence of the deep sea and our instinctive fascination with the unknown, I imagined the figure between light and apparition, slowly dissolving into the surrounding green. The circling glow draws from tides and underwater currents, suggesting a silent force that feels both oceanic and deeply internal.
