This hangs in a small spare room that doubles as an office. We don't have a beautifully coordinated interior, so I was pleased it worked with the furniture already there. I moved a shelf of small objects away from the wall below it. That simple change helped more than trying to buy new accessories to make a scene around it.

The main difference from the listing is the softer finish. I can see small variations nearby that disappear when the image is reduced on my phone.

I first planned to use this in the bedroom, but it felt more balanced between two doorways. From the doorway, the compass form is clear and the atmospheric palette gives the wall character without looking staged.

Up close, the paint layers and small imperfections are obvious. From a normal viewing distance, they blend together and give the compass detail and layered gray tones a lot of depth.

The loose lines are what make this feel handmade. They are not perfectly even, and there are thin spots where the background shows through. A few marks look almost scratched into the surface instead of painted on top. From across the room it reads as a simple blue piece; close up, there is much more going on than I expected.
The black frame is clean and doesn't compete with the map-like lines. I chose the middle size for a narrow wall, and the proportions work well.
